There are many signs and symptoms of depression in cats, but the most common is a cat withdrawing from their normal behavior and daily routine.

Some of the most common symptoms are:

  • They lose their appetite
  • General lethargy, being withdrawn
  • More sleep
  • Losing weight
  • Playing is not for everyone

The root cause of depression in cats isn’t totally known, but the condition often comes about after sudden changes take place in the cat’s environment and routine.

The most likely causes are:

  • Changes to their environment like a litterbox being moved
  • A new person or animal enters the home

Treatments for Depression in Cats
