A good Samaritan from The Bronx in New York found a mother cat with her two kittens outside, wrapped in a bag. Little Wanderers NYC, their local animal rescue, was contacted for assistance.
Little Wanderers rescuers rushed to grab them. They saw the mom with her kittens, huddled together in a corner trying to keep them safe. They offered them a plate of food and the momma, who was scrawny, began to eat.
Despite being a little scared, she was so glad to finally have some food.

“They were found in a garbage bag. We don’t know the reason, but we do know they were found in a trash bag.
“She’s a beautiful mom cat with long-haired tail. We named her Farah, while Florence and Francesca are her babies.

The three-cat family was then taken to their foster home. The kittens settled in quickly and began to get used to their foster parents, but mama Farah was still fearful and wary after the long ordeal.
Elaine Keating Brownn, the foster mother, shared this with Love Meow: “She came rather stressed unsurprisingly and did lashout a lot.”

Elaine kept the door to Farah’s foster room open to encourage Farah to explore and go out with her kittens. The kittens were able to get out of their shells over the next few days and share their first cuddles with their human parents.
Between cuddle sessions, they began to enjoy playing with toys and chasing after them. Their energy and confidence increased, and it rubbed off onto their mom who watched them interact with each other attentively and began to relax more.

After about a fortnight, momma Farah felt more secure and began to trust people again.

“She was becoming more familiar with me. It took patience and time, which I have plenty of,” Elaine explained.
“She must have been homeless for a while, as she has a beautiful coat that shows she is skin and bones. She has some trust issues—understandable—but she is allowing more pets every day.”

As they grew older, the kittens were more playful, curious and adventurous, while still enjoying a comfortable indoor life. Farah grew up and began to visit her foster family for treats, head scritches, and other fun things.
Elaine shared that Elaine is now able to pet her calmly and she will come out of the room when she hears our voices in the morning.

Farah is now full with a plentiful supply of food. She is more confident and vocal now that she has trust in her abilities.
Mama is so sweet with her kids. She is quick to run when they cry. She is rather forceful when she cleans them—she sort of headlocks them to clean their ears. She is still nursing them and is always near them.”

The three children are happy and healthy in foster care. Mama Farah feels so content knowing that her kittens will be safe and secure.
She is enjoying her new life, sharing it with loving people and learning more every day.
